Our Story

The name Chepa (pronounced t/shepa) comes from Pretoria township slang, meaning stylish or well-dressed. It is more than a name, it is a statement of identity, confidence, and presence.

Since 2017, Chepa has grown from a vision to enable everyday culture pride. We design, manufacture, and retail clothing both online and offline, powered by a collective of talent. Together, we are united by a single purpose: to craft garments that embody African heritage while embracing modern luxury.

We are constantly evolving. We study trends, innovate in design, and refine quality to ensure every piece feels timeless yet fresh. But above all, we create with intention, garments that make you feel seen!

Our ethos is rooted in Afrocentricity. We believe fashion is more than clothing; it is culture, storytelling, and self-knowledge. Chepa speaks to both the young and the old, to dreamers and doers, to those who carry the African dream forward. We exist for a generation that expresses itself boldly through fashion, art, and culture, occupying both physical and digital spaces with pride.

Chepa is who you are when you step into your story.

Traditionally in South Africa, African print has been reserved for weddings, ceremonies, or Heritage Day. We asked ourselves: why box culture into occasions? Why can’t we wear African print casually, proudly, every single day?

That’s where Chepa comes in. We design garments that are practical, comfortable, and wearable — yet bold enough to make a statement. With African print, you don’t need to borrow from a subculture. You’re already wearing culture itself.

Our mission is to reimagine African print for a new generation: post-modern, Afrocentric, and unapologetically street. Influenced by the legacy of South African streetwear — from Ama Kip-Kip to Loxion Kulture — we continue that tradition by pushing African print into new spaces.
